Tasmania, Australia’s island state, has three major public teaching hospitals serving its population of just under 500,000. They are the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital and North West Regional Hospital in Burnie. The state also has a number of smaller district public hospitals and 11 private hospitals, located around the state.
The Tasmanian health care network offers many opportunities for qualified professional nurses to find satisfying and rewarding employment. International RNs currently working in mainland capitals may be able to move to Tasmania and qualify for permanent Australian residence under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme.
